Formula Student Electrical Systems Advisor Training (Level 2E)

Course Objectives 
To train and assess persons who are to be appointed as Electrical Systems Advisors under the FIA Sporting Regulations and the IMechE Formula Student EV Safety Rules in their roles and responsibilities as an Electrical Systems Advisor (Level 2E), to ensure that they possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competence recommended in the DGUV Information 209-093 to carry out this role. 
 
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will have proven their knowledge and understanding of the following: 
 
Module 1 – Basic Electrical Theory 
Module 2 – Electrical Systems 
Module 3 – Electric Motors 
Module 4 – Electronics 
Module 5 – Digital Instruments 
Module 6 – Measurements in Series & Parallel Circuits 
Module 7 – Electrical Hazards & First Aid 
Module 8 – Protection Against Contact with Live Parts 
Module 9 – Distribution Network Systems 
Module 10 – Electrical Installation Testing 
Module 11 – Organisation of Health & Safety 
Module 12 – Electric Vehicle Roles & Responsibilities 
Module 13 – Electric Vehicles & Energy Storage Systems 
Module 14 – Authorised Person Safety Rules 
 
Modules 1-13 are delivered and assessed through an online learning platform. Module 14 is delivered via a trainer-led classroom session lasting one-day. 
 
Course Exercises: 
 
The course will provide a mix of theoretical and practical exercises to reinforce the learning outcomes delivered. 
Assessment Criteria: 
 
Module 1 – 13: Screening questionnaires to evaluate existing delegate knowledge and end of learning module questionnaires. 
 
Module 14: Practical assessment of HV System power-down followed by multiple-choice questionnaire; it will be open book with all the material provided during the course available to use. 
 
The pass mark is 80% and above, if you fail to achieve this score you will not be issued a successful completion certificate.
