NHS HTM 06-02 Low Voltage Authorised Person Course

Course membership: 
This three-day course is designed for persons who are undertaking the duties of an Authorised Person in accordance with HTM 06-02 Electrical safety guidance for LV. 
 
Course objectives: 
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to: 
 
To develop the essential underpinning technical knowledge appropriate for operations and work on Hospital Low Voltage networks 
To develop an understanding and appropriate working knowledge of HTM 06-02 (Electrical safety guidance for LV systems) 
The ability to prepare Safety Programmes, Isolation and Earthing diagrams and Safety Documents. 
The ability to apply the requirements of HTM 06-02 to practical situations 
The ability to operate safely on Hospital LV systems and to ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place prior to work/testing activities being carried out 
To be able to gain safe access to substations and switchrooms and be able to carry out risk assessments, identify hazards prior to entry and work in such enclosures. 
To know and understand the duties and responsibilities of an Authorised Person (LV) as defined within HTM 06-02 and to demonstrate a satisfactory standard of competence to carry them out. 
To demonstrate understanding of the control and management of contractors working on hospital LV systems. 
The ability to risk assess, evaluate, sanction and control work in accordance with EAWR Regulation 14 – Live Working – working on or adjacent to Live LV systems. 
The ability to meet the requirements of HSE Guidance Document HSG85 – Electricity at Work: Safe Working Practices. 
Understanding of Personal Protective Equipment and appropriate selection in line with The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 2002 and relevant guidance from NFPA70E.
