NHS HTM 06-03 High Voltage Authorised Person Refresher Course

Course Objectives:
This three-day refresher course is designed for persons who are already Authorised Persons (HV) in accordance with HTM 06-03/02 Electrical safety guidance for HV.
On completion of the course, delegates should be able to:
To develop the essential underpinning technical knowledge appropriate for operations and work on Hospital HV networks.
To develop an understanding and appropriate working knowledge of HTM 06-02 & 03 (Electrical safety guidance for LV and HV systems)
The ability to apply the requirements of HTM 06-03 to practical situations.
The ability to prepare, review and countersign Safety Programmes for work on HV and LV systems.
The ability to prepare and issue Safety Documents for work/testing.
The ability to operate safely on Hospital HV and LV systems and to ensure that appropriate safety measures are in place prior to work/testing activities being carried out.
To be able to gain safe access to substations and switch rooms and be able to carryout risk assessments, identify hazards prior to entry and work in such enclosures.
To know and understand the duties and responsibilities of an Authorised Person (HV) as defined within HTM 06-02/03 and to demonstrate a satisfactory standard of competence to carry them out.
To demonstrate understanding of the control and management of contractors working on hospital HV and LV systems.
The ability to risk assess, evaluate, sanction and control work in accordance with EAWR Regulation 14 – Live Working – working on or adjacent to Live LV systems.
The ability to meet the requirements of HSE Guidance Document HSG85 – Electricity at Work: Safe Working Practices.
Understanding of Personal Protective Equipment and appropriate selection in line with The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 2002 and relevant guidance from NFPA70E.
Course Delivery:
The course will provide a mix of theoretical and practical demonstrations to reinforce the learning outcomes delivered.
