OP7 – Low Voltage Networks – Switching and Linking

Course Objectives: 
To train and assess persons who are to be authorised for operational switching on Low Voltage networks for isolating and making safe Low Voltage systems for work or testing. Delegates will be trained how to access and safely work on associated LV equipment within the environment. 
 
On completion of the course, delegates should be able to: 
Safely access and work in an active substation environment 
Recognise key hazards relating to testing on electrical networks  
Understand their personal and corporate responsibilities under all appropriate legislation 
Understand relevant company safety procedures 
Understand and follow the correct emergency actions in the event of an incident 
Understand the concept of phase rotation and the implications of incorrect rotation 
Understand reverse polarity and the consequences of incorrect polarity 
Understand LV network configuration and running arrangements 
Demonstrate operational switching on LV systems 
Demonstrate the requirements for isolating and making safe LV systems for work or testing 
Demonstrate the basic requirements for carrying out repairs to faulted or damaged LV cables 
Demonstrate test and fault re-energising and location equipment 
Demonstrate the use of test and fault re-energising and location equipment
